2022 SUMMER CSA PROGRAM

What is a CSA?

CSA stands for ‘Community-Supported Agriculture’. CSA’s connect consumers directly to local farmers through a weekly food distribution program. This program is also commonly referred to as a “crop share” or “food box.” A CSA is a great method of supporting small farms by investing in their growing season. Members purchase “shares” of the farm’s harvest in advance, which allows the farmer to purchase vital supplies at the beginning of the season such as seeds, equipment, compost etc. In return members will then later receive their share of the crops grown as they are harvested weekly.

When Does it take place?

Our CSA season starts the last week in June and will run 16 weeks until Thanksgiving.

Pickup for weekly boxes will take place on Wednesdays at our farmstand location in Buckhorn between 2 pm and 6 pm. A potential secondary pick up location closer to Peterborough may be determined as well. We’ll keep you posted on exact details to come!

"What if I won't be around?"

Don’t worry we will try and work with you to accommodate. If you can, please let us know in advance if you may need to miss a week.

How much is a membership?

For our first CSA year we are offering a one size subscription for $400, which averages $25 in value per week.

Payment options available are e-transfer, cash, or cheque. In order to hold your spot we require a $100 deposit upon signing up that is subtracted from your total.

*Please note, if this purchase is not feasible for you at this time please send us an email and we’d be happy to discuss payment plan options with you.*

What will be in my box?

Your share will vary week-to-week according to the vegetables available in season at that time (see seasonal crop examples below) but will typically include around 5-12 items. We try our best to ensure you are getting your $25 weekly value with lots of staple items that you’ll use in most meals. Also keep in mind, when produce is plentiful during the height of the season your box may very well exceed its value! Being a member allows you to get the best pick of the patch before the general public, and may even include some extra goodies from time to time that we don't sell at our stand!
